Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

Temporary protection for individuals from countries facing unsafe conditions

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is available to individuals from designated countries experiencing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary conditions that make return unsafe. TPS provides temporary protection from removal and work authorization, but it does not grant lawful immigration status and remains subject to ongoing review, redesignation, or termination by the government.

At The Legal House, we assist clients with initial TPS filings, re‑registration, and documentation review, while closely monitoring changes that may affect eligibility or benefits. We also advise on TPS travel authorization, which may allow approved travel outside the United States and lawful return in limited circumstances when properly requested.

Because TPS is inherently temporary, we conduct individualized legal evaluations to determine whether other immigration pathways—such as family‑based, humanitarian, or waiver‑based options—may be available, helping clients plan proactively rather than relying solely on TPS for long‑term stability.

Our approach

We assist clients with both initial filings and renewals, ensuring that applications are complete and submitted on time. Our goal is to help clients maintain protection while evaluating long-term options.
